About Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a unique system of examination, diagnosis and treatment that focuses on the mechanical structure of the body. It combines hands-on techniques with exercise and advice providing relief for most types of aches, pains and strains in people of every age. Osteopathy is a safe, holistic, manual approach to medicine which aims to assist the body with its natural self healing processes. Osteopaths treat the whole body not just the symptoms therefore a wide variety of different conditions can be helped. Patients are treated as individuals with their own unique requirements.

Osteopathy has undergone statutory regulation by Parliament (Osteopaths Act 1993) this means that all osteopaths must be registered with the General Osteopathic council (GOsC) by law. Osteopaths have to train for a minimum of four years. They also have to carry out continuing professional development in order to stay registered.
